Fruit for Backpacks

 

Sunset Elementary in downtown Edmond is the poorest of the 16 Edmond elementary schools.  Approximately 25 children from Sunset participate in the Regional Food Bank Backpack program, which sends a backpack of non-perishable meal items home from school with the child each Friday for the weekend. Church & Society members began supplying 1-2 pieces of fruit per backpack to the school counselor one Friday per month to place in the backpacks.
